While Ciri was going through the forest, she came across a sheperd leading his sheep back home.
Seeing the weary traveler, the sheperd decided to offer hospitality to the young witcheress.
After a very good meal at the sheperd’s home, Ciri asked the man about a particular object he had displayed on a big chest.
“I found it in the forest,” said the sheperd.
The object was a massive steel chain. On it, Ciri could see long marks that looked like gigantic claws.
“Where?,” asked Ciri with curiosity.
“I was leading my sheep to the village to sell some of them, when I heard a great scream of pain. I was trying to keep my herd organized, as some were frightened by the chilling sound.
After getting my herd back together, I saw from afar a man getting on a horse.
There was something enormous attached on the right side of his saddle. It seemed larger than the horse itelf.
The man rode off slowly and I made my way to the village.
When I came back, I stumbled upon it. An enormous chain with blood on it.
I almost broke my arms trying to put it in my wheelbarrow.”
“Why did you take it?” asked Ciri.
“There’s always a use for everything!” said the sheperd proudly.
“What have you used it for?” pursued Ciri.
“Nothing, unfortunately. It’s too heavy for me,” said the sheperd.
“What if I had a use for it?” replied Ciri.
“Then it’s yours! That way, you’ll owe me a favor one day.” said the sheperd.
Ciri readily agreed to the deal and the pair shook hands.
